Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators Educational Scholarship
Since its inception, GAPPI has been supportive of education of those already in the field, as well as those who are preparing for a career in the field. As such, the 2024 Board of Directors approved the establishment of the GAPPI Educational Scholarship Program. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote educational development and provide recognition for academic achievement amongst GAPPI’s greater family. On a yearly basis, GAPPI will provide educational scholarships to those who exhibit academic excellence, in a degree program focusing on, or complimenting, the private investigative profession.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
On a yearly basis, GAPPI will award Two (2) $750.00 scholarships to two students to be used toward tuition and books. The Scholarships will be awarded to the recipients during the June GAPPI membership meeting.
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING
Throughout the year, during association sponsored events, GAPPI members will have the opportunity to participate in raffles and win prizes. The proceeds from the ticket sales will go 100% to funding the GAPPI Scholarships. In addition, GAPPI members may make direct donations to the fund.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be sponsored by a GAPPI Member in good standing (active or retired, in accordance with the GAPPI Bylaws). GAPPI members in good standing may sponsor any one of the following from their family per scholarship award year:
- Children and stepchildren
- Grandchildren
- Nieces and nephews
Applicants must be full time students, registered for the year of the scholarship, in a degree program at an Accredited College or University (two- or four-year institution) focusing on, or complimenting, the private investigation profession. (i.e. Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Investigative Journalism, Cyber Security)
A minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or the equivalent grading scale will be required for undergraduate applicants. *The minimum GPA for students with special circumstances, defined as those who have overcome hardships such as learning disabilities and other emotional and/or physical handicaps, will be 2.5 (4.0 scale) or the equivalent grading scale.
Proof of Community Service
Be of high moral and ethical standard
Georgia resident for at least one year, and a U.S. citizen.
AWARDS
Applications will be accepted yearly from February 1st to April 28th. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain all necessary materials, submit the completed application, and submit all required documents by the deadline. Materials received after the deadline will not be considered for a scholarship-NO EXCEPTIONS.
COMMITTEE PROCEDURE
The Scholarship Committee will select recipients each year according to academic merit and potential to succeed in the student’s chosen educational field. The Committee will consider the applicant’s grades, community service and extracurricular activities. Applicants will be notified of their status after the May Committee meeting. Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipients.

Completed and signed application
Official transcripts of grades for college, university and high school, including fall of the preceding year.
Letter of acceptance for entrance to the Learning Institution
Proof of Community Service and extracurricular activities
Proof of Georgia residency and US Citizenship
